The NFDA (National Funeral Director’s Association) International Conference – Media Coverage: Good Deeds TV Show with Host Dr. Renee Sunday

When a loved one passes away, it’s not easy to hold yourself together. It doesn’t matter if you were prepared for it or not. If you knew it was going to happen or not. If it was inevitable or an accident. The fact is that the death of a dear one is the toughest experience you’ll face in life because you know the fact that the person you loved so much will never come back to you again.

Good Deeds Radio and TV Show with host Dr. Renee Sunday had the honor and privilege of being one of the media outlets at the NFDA (National Funeral Director’s Association) International Conference in the Music City – Nashville, TN.

“NFDA’S Mission Statement is the worldwide source of expertise and professional resources for all facets of funeral service. Through education, information and advocacy, NFDA is dedicated to supporting members in their mission to provide families with meaningful end-of-life services at the highest levels of excellence and integrity.”*

“NFDA is the world’s leading funeral service association, serving 19,000 individual members who represent more than 10,200 funeral homes in the United States and internationally.”*

“From its headquarters in Brookfield, Wis., and its Advocacy office in Washington, D.C., NFDA informs, educates and advocates helping members enhance the quality of service they provide to families.”* Yes, hats off to the organizers, leadership, participants, volunteers and all parties involved for presenting an eye – opening, organized and in the spirit of excellence experience.

Good Deeds had the esteem pleasure of meeting and sending time with the leaders of the NFDA.

Good Deeds witnessed first hand the love, generosity, compassion and comfort that comes naturally in the funeral industry from The 100 Black Women of Funeral Service Organization. Ms. Elleanor – Davis Starks and Dottie Hector, founded this much-needed organization. Their team with Crisma Henriquez extends a helping hand through resources, education and support globally.

Life is full of ups downs. When someone is gone life seems to halt but actually life never stops. It is we who create the illusion of life being stopped after the loss. The same sun rises every morning and so must well.

The first and most important thing is to go through the grieving process. Don’t try to ignore the emotional upheaval that is taking place inside you. Cry all you want. If you have a friend or family member that you trust, confide your feelings in them. Sorrows lessen when shared. Remember that you are not the only person who loved the deceased. Help other family members who are grieving. Share your emotions with them. Reach out to the funeral industry that has been graced to help us through the grieving process. Set back and enjoy the gallery.
